There are a number of training and employment programs offered to workers and businesses in the City of Cambridge.

The following programs support employment and offer workforce training.

Apprenticeship Employer Signing Bonus
The Apprenticeship Employer Signing Bonus provides an employer that hires, registers and trains an apprentice as part of their participation in the Employment Service program will receive a $1,000 bonus.
Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit

The federal apprenticeship job creation tax credit encourages employers to hire apprentices in eligible trades. Employers are eligible for up to $2,000 per year for each apprentice hired.

The Canada Summer Jobs program provides employers that create career-related summer jobs for students (ages 15 to 30) with wage subsidies.

Canada-Ontario Job Grant

Canada-Ontario Job Grant provides opportunities for employers, individually or in groups, to invest in their workforce, with help from the government. Employers can get up to $10,000 in government support per person for training costs.

Ontario Job Creation Partnerships
Ontario Job Creation Partnerships is a program that offers work to unemployed job seekers in projects that help the community or local economy.
Ontario Labour Market Partnerships

The Ontario labour market program supports partnerships among employers, employer/employee associations, and community groups.

Employment Ontario

Employment Ontario offers programs for employers, employees, apprentices, and job seekers. The

Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development manages this division.

Ontario Targeted Wage Subsidy
The Targeted Wade Subsidies provide on-the-job work experience to unemployed people with difficulty finding work. The program also encourages employers to hire those facing employment barriers by offering temporary wage subsidies.

The Arts and Heritage Program increases opportunities for local artists and groups to celebrate local heritage through festivals and other events.
