Come shop, eat and play Cambridge!

Thanks to your tremendous support, the City of Cambridge, in partnership with the Downtown Cambridge and Hespeler Village Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), is once again closing a portion of Main Street and Queen Street to create pedestrian-friendly spaces for you to enjoy. 

Beginning May 20 through to October 10, 2022, look for additional wooden patios, pop-up markets, live music and other events in our vibrant and growing city - we hope to see you there! 

Downtown Cambridge Road Closure: 

  • Main Street between Water Street and Ainslie Street

Full closure, seven days a week, beginning Friday May 20, 2022 to Monday October 10, 2022.

Hespeler Village Road Closure: 

  • Queen Street East between Adam Street and Tannery Street. 

Weekends only, beginning Friday, June 3, 2022 to Sunday, October 9, 2022. The closure will take place each Friday at 4:30 p.m. and last until Sunday at 9:00 p.m.

In March 2022, Council approved the continuation of the City's temporary road closure program and patio programs. The programs were first introduced in 2020 to support businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
