Come shop, eat and play Cambridge!

The City of Cambridge, in partnership with the Downtown Cambridge and Hespeler Village Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), will close a portion of Main Street and Queen Street to create pedestrian-friendly spaces for you to enjoy beginning Victoria Day long weekend.

Look for additional patios on the streets, pop-up markets, live music and other events - we hope to see you there!

Downtown Cambridge Road Closure:

  • Main Street (between Ainslie St. and Water St.) in Galt will be closed to vehicles seven days a week starting Friday, May 19, 2023 through Monday, October 9, 2023 (Thanksgiving Monday)

The Seasonal Road Closure Program was first introduced in 2020. In fall 2022, the City sought public feedback on the program and received an overwhelmingly positive response in favour of continuing them.  Moving forward, Cambridge Council has now approved funds to support the Seasonal Road Closures each year as budget permits.
