Cambridge is located within the Region of Waterloo, and the Region's 2031 year end population is estimated at 641,879.

Statistics Canada is the government agency responsible for providing economic, social and census data collection and analysis for the nation.  The last census was undertaken in 2021 and the demographic findings for the City of Cambridge include:

  • A population of 138,479. Up 6.6% from 2016 census. 
  • A predicted population of 176,000 by 2031
  • An average age of 39.5 (2 years younger than the provincial average)
  • An average income very close to the provincial average
  • An increase of 3,030 households from 2016 to 2021

The next national census is scheduled for 2026.
