The Waterloo Region Small Business Centre assists entrepreneurs with the development of new or existing businesses. There are three locations in Waterloo Region, one in the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo.

The Cambridge location "INVEST Cambridge" is located at 50 Dickson Street. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Appointments are offered both in-person and virtually. To book an appointment, please fill out the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre Intake Form or contact our Economic Development Team at (519) 740-4685 ext 4719 to book an appointment. Walk-in visits are also welcome, but to ensure we have the appropriate staff on-site to assist you, we recommend booking an appointment.

We currently offer many different seminars and workshops on topics such as business basics, digital marketing, and business plan development. Seminars require pre-registration and you can register on our Events Page.

What services does the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre provide?
The Centre's services include but are not limited to business consultations. You are able to meet with a Cambridge Small Business Advisor to privately discuss your business idea or plan. This service is free.
How can I set up a meeting?

Meetings are available by appointment only and can be booked for up to one hour, as often as needed. The Small Business Centre encourages you to seek professional advice on legal, tax, or accounting matters.

Does the Centre run any events?
The Centre offers a number of seminars and events in the Region of Waterloo to help you grow your business. You can view more information and register for events and seminars online.
How do I register my business?

The cost to obtain a Certificate of Business Name Registration (Master Business Licence) is $60 and the licence is valid for five (5) years. Here are instructions for Registering Your Business Online in Ontario

If you will be operating a business in Cambridge, you may also require a municipal business licence to ensure the safety of citizens.
